Welcome to the World of Wrap Carries!

Congratulations on mastering front carries with your Didymos woven wrap and your little one! Whether you are interested in exploring beyond front carries or your little one is now curious and eager to see more of the world, hip carries are wonderful steps in your babywearing journey!

Before getting started, it is always important to familiarise oneself with Babywearing Safety and Proper Baby Positioning.

Still not sure if you and baby are ready for Hip Carries? Read more HERE

The most popular hip carry is the Traditional Hip Carry. It is a simple and easy carry that mimics a ring sling carry but with a knot instead of rings.  It requires a short size of wrap to effectively execute and subsequently carry without hindrance of excess fabric.  Since most people learn how to wrap their babies on the front using a standard long size wrap (also known as a base size wrap), we will talk about hip carries that you can easily transition from your front carry to a hip carry using your base size wrap. In fact, all of these hip carries, can also be done as front carries too! Just position baby on the front or the hip – your choice!

In our experience the Poppins and the Robins hip carries are the most popular hip carries using a long standard size wrap. These carries can also be tweaked to be used with a midsize wrap and with some, even a short wrap! Extremely versatile carries that can be executed in different sizes of wraps!

So, Poppins or Robins? A very popular question! We recommend to try both and pick the one that resonates with you the best!
