DIDYMOS is listening and responding to what babywearers want with their beautiful Prima weft gradations! Didymos released its most recent Prima gradation on September 29th, 2015 called Blues Prima to join the ranks with its previous gradation releases – Sole Occidente, Aurora and Shades of Blue.
Blues is Didy’s first Hemp/Cotton only blend gradation and first gradation of this higher weight! Made from 60% organic cotton and 40% hemp with dark blue cotton warp combined with alternating weft yarns: hemp in dark blue, light blue, natural and purple. Blues is a jacquard fabric woven in Didymos’s classic Prima pattern. It is a beautiful creation that catches the eye of both the hobbyists and new wearers!
The wrap highlights the different colours depending on the angle and what carry is executed. It had me excited to try many different carries just to see how the wrap looked different in each carry or finishing technique! I could not choose an angle I liked best as it simply bedazzles the wearer and the audience alike no matter how it is worn! At 270 g/m2 and being hemp, it feels like a bit of a beast brand new in the box. Wrapping before washing had me sweating and then giggling a little. It has been a while that a wrap has challenged me! However, once washed and used a few times, it softens up quickly. Blues has the potential to be a soft and floppy wrap with amazing cush! Blues is still, in my opinion, a thick and somewhat grippy wrap and therefore a bit more challenging to tighten all the passes clear of any slack, so I would recommend this for wrappers with experience or for those new wearers up for a bit of a challenge 🙂 It might make a new wearer’s learning curve a bit steeper but if one can tame this beauty, then the rewards are surely worth it! Blues is very supportive and performs as a rock solid wrap in any carry and length.
It shines equally in a single layer traditional hip carry or ruck to a multi pass Front Wrap Cross Carry or a Double Hammock. It may be on the thicker side but the Prima weave lends itself to be an airy weave so the air can circulate through the wrap. This is a wrap that can be used from newborn to preschool age easily.
We give it a 10+ for performance and a 10+ for aesthetics as it is clearly one of the most beautiful creations Didy has made this year!
